Visions for Learning Grants
ECOLAB“Visions for Learning Grants” A Program for School Educators
The goal of ECOLAB’s grant program for school educators is to encourage and reward individual teacher’s creativity and innovation in classroom learning by providing opportunities that will:
- Motivate and challenge students intellectually
- Raise student achievement
- Increase student understanding of academic content, including technical/vocational studies
- Increase student understanding of the connection between school and life
The program provides materials and resources through grants ranging from $100 up to $3,000 to teachers in specific communities surrounding ECOLAB facilities.
ECOLAB reaches Half Million Dollar Milestone with Commitment to Teachers and Students
On November 12th, 2008 representatives from ECOLAB (Garland Division), awarded their annual “Visions for Learning Grants” to deserving teachers in the Garland Independent School District. Phillip Davis, Phyllis Young, and Donna Webb were pleased to announce that this year’s total of $46,800.00 in grants surpassed the Half Million Dollar total since the programs inception in 1992 with $5,000.00. The grant program is funded by the ECOLAB Foundation and the generosity of their employees. “This program has touched thousands of teachers’ and students over the years. It has allowed them to be creative in their teaching applications to their students. Our district has greatly benefited from the commitment of ECOLAB’s Garland office stated Dr. Curtis Culwell, Superintendent of schools.
Teachers may apply for the annual grants each spring. The grants are available for up to $3,000.00 for teachers’ inspiration and classroom supplies. They range from math modules to discovering the environment, books, reading and listening centers. “This has been an event that teachers look forward to each year. They really get excited about winning. Our spring and fall grants are capped at $1,000.00, so these grants allow the teachers a little more room to be creative.” stated Keith Reimer with the BEST Education Foundation.
